When someone leaves an envelope filled with $50,000 worth of jewelry in the back of a cab, they usually can kiss it goodbye. If you are Salma Hayek though, it has a fairytale ending. Literally.

Actress Salma Hayek was recently running around the big apple with a load of jewelry estimated at about $50,000 worth, and ended up leaving it accidentally in the taxi she was riding in. As luck and coincidence would have it, the person using the taxi after her is not only honest but famous as well.

Here's the rundown from The National Ledger: Salma Hayek received a fairly nice haul from Lorenzo Borghese - the royal star of ABC's nighttime reality dating game The Bachelor. No - the gorgeous star hasn't joined the cast and stolen the heart Lorenzo Borghese, she just got lucky in the back of a cab.

America's big new TV star, America Ferrera, relates to her role in "Ugly Betty" -- the awkward, sweet, chubby nerd in braces.

"In high school, you stand up and you've got gum stuck to your pants. You're in third grade, and you peed in your seat. A couple of times I did that," Ferrera, 22, says and laughs. "I was a late bloomer. I didn't have so much control over my bladder."

Even before "Ugly Betty" debuted, some in the media were speculating the comedy-drama could prosper because it is network TV's only title with a Hispanic woman in the central role. It also had the fortune of being based on a popular Colombian telenovela, which was said to be an enticement for this nation's growing Hispanic population.

Actress and "Ugly Betty" executive producer, Salma Hayek, is writing herself a part on the new ABC series.

Hayek will play Sophia Reyes, who was described as "a newcomer to the Mode scene (who will) leave a lasting impression on Daniel Meade (Eric Mabius) and Betty Suarez (America Ferrera)."

Hayek started out on Telenovelas, the Spanish soap opera's that "Betty" is likened to.

The actress hasn't held a regular role on prime time television since 1993 when she had a month-long stint on "The Sinbad Show."
